The president of Cantabria, Ignacio Diego, announced the implementation in the Autonomous Community of the Steel Derivative Company `Santander Coated Solutions', which will have its facilities in the land of the port of Santander and that is operational in October 2014. Specifically, it will be located in 15,000 square meters of land in the service area of the port of Santander, in which it will build a 12,000 square meter ship, with an investment of 10 million euros that will entail the creation of more than 45 direct jobs in Cantabrian workers. `Santander Coated Solutions' will be dedicated to the manufacture of two product lines. On the one hand, the pre -laced and painted steel coils, which will be the main product and the painted and cut steel sheet. This activity has, according to the regional president, a "high dynamic potential", since it will give rise to 4,600 trucks per year, which will be carried out "with Cantabrian companies" and a port traffic of about 160,000 tons per year, In addition to "other induced effects" in activity related to supplies and services. This plant is born with a clear export vocation and, from the Cantabrian installation, it is planned to supply to the north of Spain, to France and the markets of northern Europe. It is estimated that, once the project is consolidated, the sales volume of `Santander Coated Solutions' will amount to 85,000 tons per year. The company, according to the President, has chosen Cantabria "for two reasons fundamentally." First, for the provision and open relationship with the government and the measures that it has made available to companies and for the strategic value that the port of Santander has for the company. The president has insisted that the port of Santander is "the added value that Cantabria gives the company, since the production of the other plant plants will also generate activity in the port of Santander." For his part, the president of the APS, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, expressed his "enormous satisfaction for the installation in the port of the company Santander Coated Solutions." Martínez Sieso stressed that “this industrial project, in addition to creating a significant number of direct and indirect jobs in Cantabria, will mean a significant increase in the port traffic in Santander, both imported from coils and steel plates, as well as export Final product". He also noted that "throughout the process, the Port Authority of Santander has maintained a close collaboration with the Cantabria government so that this industry was installed in the port, an ideal location for this type of companies." In this sense, the president of the PHC revealed "the strategic interest of the port of Santander for these business activities, as well as for the industrial development of the region in general." According to the president of the APS, "the port provides an important competitive factor through the services involved in a port infrastructure such as Santander."
