The Minister of Development, Ana Pastor; the president of the Government of Cantabria, Ignacio Diego; the mayor of Santander, Íñigo de la Serna; The president of Ports of the State, José Llorca, and the president of the Port Authority of Santander, José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, participated in the signing of the Agreement for the urban reorganization of the Santander Maritime Front. The Minister of Development stressed that between 2013 and 2017 83 million euros will be invested, and the area in which it will act will be 60 hectares of port land, of which 27 hectares are new to the city. Among others, it will act in the expansion of the Paseo Marítimo de la Playa de Los Dangra, the rehabilitation of the Maritime Station, the reordering of the docks of Maura and Albareda, and include all the actions in the area of ​​San Martín-Gamazo. According to Ana Pastor, this is going to be the largest process of opening Santander in the sea in the last 50 years. To develop the interventions on the maritime front, the different administrations have chosen to hold an international ideas contest, with the objective, according to the mayor of Santander, to incorporate the best experiences and talents. In this contest, 5 finalist projects will be chosen, which will undergo a jury of experts. A part of the final vote will correspond to the Santander, and, according to Íñigo de la Serna, not only the aesthetics of the proposals will be taken into account, but also that they are viable and realistic ideas. For Ignacio Diego, all this action will improve infrastructure and endowments, in addition to increasing the attractiveness and functionality of the city, to ensure higher quality of life for Santander. José Joaquín Martínez Sieso, president of the port highlighted during his speech that in difficult economic circumstances many things have been done thanks to the synchronization of the institutions present in the agreement, and here he cited the planning instruments and some actions that have been carried out Or they are now developing as the demolition of the Solvay ships, the execution of the Varadero Park, the rescue of the Gamazo-San Martín ships, the rehabilitation of the Gamazo dike or the construction of the Botín Center, among others. According to the president of the PHC, the modification of the maritime front is being addressed from an integral vision, noting that it is based on an in -depth study of the space and the projects are being developed, which will be related to each other. Finally, he stressed that the objective of the APS is to achieve more modern and efficient port infrastructure to contribute to build a more avant-garde city and improve the Puerto-Ciudad relationship.
