The Santander Port Authority and the University of Cantabria continuously take part in joint activities and partnerships of very different kinds. Although the majority of these activities are research projects or cultural dissemination tasks, on this occasion, the two institutions are joining together for a project within the field of teaching. This piece of work has been developed by a team of researchers at the Department of Educational Science at the university and it involves a study of the educational opportunities on offer at the Port of Santander.

Using the study of the port’s influence on all aspects of life in the region and knowledge of the demands of the educational curriculum and the evolutionary nature of the target audience, this educational guide has been put together particularly for all students in the second stage of primary education.

The following pages demonstrate the Port of Santander’s huge educational potential. We trust that this potential will be used by schools in our region and that they will use this publication, which aims to be an accessible and flexible resource for teachers that can be adapted to their own needs.
