Survey: what do you eat?
Educational justification
Piece of work linked to the following stage areas:
Knowledge of the surrounding area, Art and Consumer Education.
Description of the work to be undertaken:
How?: This activity in this file aims to help the students discover the eating habits of the other children in their class. As before, the teacher will need to help the students work with the information they collect from the survey, so that this information can later be discussed as a group in class. The survey is just a guide; the questions can be changed and added to, etc. Once the information collected has been put in a table, it is a good idea to represent this information in graphs that can be put around the school. You could even design a campaign in the school to make the students aware of how important it is to take care of our bodies through good hygiene and eating habits.
Where?: In the classroom.
When?: Before or after the visit.
Using what?: The survey on page 31.
Assessment: For the teacher to decide.
Activity objectives:
To discover and recognise the eating habits of other children of the same age or other ages.
To stimulate the students' interest in showing other children at school healthy eating habits and principles.
