The cost of living... Eat healthily

Educational justification

A child is undergoing a continuous process of personal education and habits. At this age, it is easier to make a child aware of their body and for them to learn to love it and take care of it. This process obviously includes learning about a healthy diet.

Piece of work linked to the following stage areas:

Knowledge of the surrounding area, Art and Consumer Education.

Description of the work to be undertaken:

How?: We continue on the topic of food with some explanations of kinds of foods, the nutrients that they contain and the food wheel. As you can see, the file does not contain any activities. There are explanations that can be expanded on by making a food wheel with card, and by going into more detail about nutrients and energy values, etc.

Where?: In the classroom.

When?: Before or after the visit.

Using what?: The relevant file.

Assessment: For the teacher to decide.

Complementary material: Various bodies have published guides (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, National Consumer Institute, Consumer Associations, City Councils, etc.), which are available (and normally free) for citizens to request. The bibliography and materials identified in the guide can also be used: Educación del Consumidor (Consumer Education), published by the Ministry of Education and Science using the compulsory curriculum.

Activity objectives:

To go into greater depth on the topics linked to eating based on experience and to set out relationships between eating facts and phenomena.

To encourage good eating habits in the students.

To make the students see how important eating and food is for their bodies to develop correctly.

To provide students with the tools and knowledge required for them to be able to eat a balanced diet.
